The Ba Bird
In ancient Egypt, the soul was depicted as a bird with a human head: the Ba. It represents the personal, the unique — that which makes each person who they truly are.
The Ba travels freely between heaven and earth, returning to the body each night to rest.
In my painting, she flies through a golden sky, a deliberate choice: gold as a symbol of the divine and the eternal. Behind her head shines a halo of pure gold leaf — a quiet reference to the sacred and the mystery of the soul.
