Reconstruction of The Night Watch at the Rijksmuseum – The Secret of the Master
In 2021, I was invited to participate in a unique project: creating a full-size reconstruction of The Night Watch, including the previously removed sections. This reconstruction took place on the Honor Gallery at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
For three months, I worked intensively on this large and detailed task, a truly special experience. The project received considerable attention in the popular TV program The Secret of the Master, a Dutch AVRO/TROS series about restoration and old masterpieces.
The show follows master restorers and artists as they investigate and reconstruct famous paintings. I am also mentioned in the accompanying book, published in multiple languages — a wonderful reminder of this special collaboration and my role in the reconstruction of The Night Watch.
